- ➤ Greater Lafayette Commerce hosted its final quarterly development series Wednesday at the North End Community Center + Purdue economists David Hummels and Kevin Mumford shared their views on the economic outlook for 2026, noting that data center investments and a drop in international student enrollment could affect local productivity and market trends. They added that past productivity gains may not continue if these trends impact local rents and university finances. Star City News

- ➤ Today, the City of Lafayette approved funding for three Community Development Block Grants administered by the Lafayette Housing Authority—$7,000 to Food Finders Food Bank will boost food access for about 3,736 residents, while $17,500 and $60,000 will support Tippecanoe Senior Services’ Meals on Wheels and home repair services for low and moderate-income seniors. - ➤ Construction began on Renew’s High Rate Treatment facility in Lafayette to protect the Wabash River by reducing combined sewer overflows from 96 times a year to four or fewer and treating up to 80 million gallons of water per day—an important step in the city's infrastructure plan. - ➤ Lafayette officials announced today that 12 local organizations — chosen from 18 applicants — have been awarded $500,000 from opioid settlements to support recovery, mental health, and prevention programs.
