COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Veterans from Greater Lafayette embarked on an Honor Flight journey to Washington, D.C.—visiting memorials and receiving a hero’s welcome as they departed from Purdue Airport. Air Force nurse veteran Susan Keenan and Vietnam veteran Ranny Wright shared their emotional experiences, with Wright visiting the Vietnam War wall to honor fallen comrades.  WLFI

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Back in Motion Chiropractic opened last Monday in Lafayette — hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony with City Clerk Cindy Murray and council members Kevin Klinker and Eileen Hession Weiss, with support from Greater Lafayette Commerce.  Star City News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The 18th annual Art on the Wabash event will take place this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Tapawingo Park—featuring art displays, vendors, live music and food trucks—and parking is free for all attendees.  Star City News
  • Downtown Lafayette will host the Star City Nights festival this Friday featuring vendors, live music, and food trucks. The event follows the cancellation of Starry Night Fest in June.  Star City News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Purdue University will send an all-Boilermaker crew on a Virgin Galactic suborbital spaceflight in 2027 as researchers and students will study fluid behavior in zero gravity—led by Professor Steven Collicott.  WLFI
  • Purdue University removed its contract with the Exponent newspaper, which means international students can no longer work there—four current staffers and about 10 prospective students have been informed. Publisher Kyle Charters said the paper will explore volunteer or intern options if a new arrangement is possible.  Journal & Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Judge Persin asked if lawsuits against the West Lafayette microchip factory should be treated as a zoning decision subject to judicial review— or as a legislative act not covered by statutory provisions, leaving legal experts awaiting guidance.  Journal & Courier
  • West Lafayette has sworn in Thomas Gilliom—former CEO at Valley Oaks Health—as a new member of the Board of Public Works and Safety, with Mayor Erin Easter officiating his ceremony; he will serve as the fifth board member overseeing city funding until the end of 2027.  Star City News

  • Faith Christian golfer Addy Brown sank her playoff clinching putt to secure her spot in the IHSAA regionals—she will compete in upcoming matches to advance her team.  Journal & Courier
  • Purdue volleyball lost several key players to transfers — including top All-Big Ten athletes — and coach Dave Shondell rebuilt its roster with freshmen and new transfers, putting the Boilers at 9-1 and ranked 10th. They will play Washington in the Big Ten opener at Mackey Arena today.  Journal & Courier
