- ➤ The City of Lafayette has applied for bicycle friendly community status and is asking residents to share their biking experiences by taking an online survey—this feedback will help the city work with the League of American Bicyclists to improve local cycling conditions. Star City News
- ➤ Local group NAMI West Central Indiana announced it will host its 10th annual motorcycle ride today to honor local firefighter Michael Chapman—who died by suicide. The ride will begin at American Legion Post 11 and end at Trish’s Red Bird Cafe in Dayton—registration costs are $30 per rider and $10 per passenger with proceeds benefiting NAMI programs. - ➤ The Area of Planning Commissioners reported that a new Culver's will be built at 3720 Burr Swezey Drive on Lafayette’s south side—its second location after the one on North Creasy Lane. It will be near 52 and Veterans Memorial and work will begin soon. Star City News
- ➤ Purdue alumnus Keith Krach was named the 2025 recipient of the M. Eugene Merchant Manufacturing Medal—an honor given by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers that recognizes efforts to advance manufacturing technology. He will receive the award on Oct. 5th. Star City News

- ➤ BMV data shows that Indiana University license plates sold 179,436 times, earning about $4.5 million, while Purdue plates sold 158,767 times for nearly $4 million, and university records cite higher enrollment at IU—89,247 students compared to Purdue’s 57,310—as a likely reason for the difference. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Paradigm Health has opened a new hospice and palliative care office in Lafayette to offer families in Tippecanoe County easy access to help—delivered by nurses, social workers, chaplains, therapists, and volunteers. The office is the first in the nation to earn ACHC accreditation for community-based care and will also provide services like grief support and veteran programs. WLFI

- ➤ Wea Creek Orchard owner Perry Kirkham said the warm summer heat caused the apple crop to ripen early with some issues in coloring and size. Record crowds visited the orchard as children enjoyed wagon rides and tasting the apples during the busy harvest season. Star City News
- ➤ Several Indiana farms are opening corn mazes this fall for unique outdoor fun—Lafayette's Exploration Acres began its bicentennial-themed maze on Sept. 12 while other farms plan events from Sept. 20 through Oct. 2. Journal & Courier

- ➤ On Friday, September 19, Purdue football coach Barry Odom visited the Purdue Armory to speak with the ROTC program—members of which will deliver a game ball to Winamac—and then begin its transfer to Notre Dame ROTC in South Bend for Saturday’s kickoff. Journal & Courier
- ➤ West Lafayette beat Central Catholic 34-27 – Dylan Salazar’s late interception return helped secure the win. Kojo Steffey rushed for 185 yards and three touchdowns while freshman Dru Stapleton passed for 321 yards and one touchdown. Journal & Courier
