- ➤ Wea Creek Orchard (Lafayette) will host its annual Fall Fest (from noon to 6 p.m.) on Sept. 18 where visitors can pick apples and pumpkins, ride tractors, and visit vendors and food trucks. The entry fee is $10 per car. Star City News
- ➤ Exploration Acres opened on September 12th, offering families hayrides, a pumpkin patch and a Lafayette Bicentennial corn maze featuring Marquis de Lafayette and William Digby—Tim Fitzgerald said the farm will add Thursday hours in October to extend its schedule. Visitors can buy discounted tickets online and enjoy games and changing food vendors during their visit. WLFI
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Global Fest is coming to downtown West Lafayette on Sept. 20 from 3—10 p.m.—a free event that celebrates music, dance, food and art from Africa, the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The festival is hosted by the City of West Lafayette, International Center and Purdue Convocations and will take place on Chauncey Avenue. Star City News
- ➤ Today the Tippecanoe Latino Festival is held at Columbian Park from noon to 5 p.m.—featuring artisanal and food vendors along with entertainment by groups such as Banda Filarmónica Vientos Regionales—and funds raised will support LCWE's scholarship and free community events. Star City News

- ➤ Lafayette apartment rental prices remain essentially unchanged since last August—the typical listing is around $1,200, with one- and two-bedroom units showing very little change. Data from Zumper shows these rates are about 11% below the state median and notably lower than national prices. Journal & Courier

- ➤ Purdue Police are preparing for a home football game against USC today with 3000 extra fans expected. Lieutenant Nick Crosby advised residents to be patient with post-game traffic — and to stay cool in the heat as security plans are carefully reviewed. Star City News

- ➤ Purdue freshman Omer Mayer said his growing friendship with teammate Braden Smith is helping him learn the Boilermakers’ system after a viral summer in Israel. Coach Matt Painter expects Mayer’s skills to improve further as the team prepares for upcoming games—highlighting how their on-court roles complement each other. Journal & Courier
- ➤ Purdue basketball is ranked preseason No. 1 as coach Matt Painter said the team is taking a 'national championship or bust' approach to make up for last season’s tough calls—he stressed that learning from these past errors will push the team to be more aggressive in upcoming games. - ➤ On Friday, Twin Lakes football used the 6-7 meme when quarterback Cooper Dold threw a 67-yard touchdown pass that helped the team beat Central—52 to 3. The team now stands at 4-0 and celebrated with a phrase from a popular teen song. Journal & Courier
- ➤ Twin Lakes football rallied around injured coach Kevin O'Shea — who now uses an electric wheelchair because of a bad back — and offensive lineman Walters, who played with a hurt wrist, to beat Central Catholic 52-3 on Sept 12. The win, their first against Central Catholic since 2018, sets up a game against Logansport next Friday. Journal & Courier
- ➤ Today, Purdue is hosting a blood drive challenge against USC as part of the Big Ten and Abbott challenge to help fight America's blood shortage—students donating are eligible to win a ticket prize package and a special t-shirt ahead of the game. Star City News
- ➤ Purdue football is holding a big recruiting weekend today at Ross-Ade Stadium as it prepares to face USC at 3:30 p.m. The team expects 54 visitors including seven verbal commits and notable local prospects such as Brownsburg’s Branden Sharpe and New Palestine’s Mason Oglesby — adding fresh talent to its recruiting efforts.
