- ➤ The Tippecanoe County Historical Association has released a new book that covers 200 years of county history—featuring well-known figures and lesser-known stories selected with community input. The book is available for $50 and highlights local milestones such as the early senior courts that began at Purdue and in Lafayette. Star City News
- ➤ Two Purdue students revived the bar crawl tradition with hammercrawl to bring students downtown as local bar owners welcome the new customers. The $25 event on Sept. 27 offers a T-shirt and special food and drink deals and aims to provide a safe introduction to the local bar scene for new 21-year-olds. Journal & Courier

- ➤ FIRE ranked Purdue University as the second best public school for free speech on campus and warned that its score may drop if it continues distancing itself from its student newspaper—Indiana University ranked worst among 257 universities while Notre Dame suffered a significant drop and DePauw maintained strong survey results. - ➤ The Indiana Department of Education has awarded Tippecanoe School Corporation $55,000 after McCutcheon High School’s robotics team claimed the top prize at the 2025 FIRST Robotics Competition Championship last school year — the funds will support local robotics programs and boost educational innovation. - ➤ The Wabash Township Fire Department is hosting a memorial service tomorrow at 6 p.m. at its firehouse on 2899 Klondike Road in West Lafayette to honor the 24th anniversary of 9/11—Former Lafayette Police Chief Patrick Flannelly will be the keynote speaker. Star City News

- ➤ Franciscan Health Lafayette will start a diabetes prevention program for adults at high risk on Oct.1 at the Franciscan Healthy Living Center—group sessions will meet every Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and include six weeks of classes with monthly follow-ups led by a lifestyle coach, costing $99. - ➤ Purdue University and USC will compete for the most blood donations before Saturday's game as part of the Big Ten and Abbott healthcare company's 'We Give Blood' challenge—donors will be entered in a lottery and Purdue could win a football ticket prize package while the winning school earns $1 million for student or community health. - ➤ USC coach Lincoln Riley noted Purdue’s improved defense — which includes seven first-year transfers — and said reviewing old film is now useless when the team resets its program. Purdue will host USC at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium. Journal & Courier
- ➤ Dr. Mark French built a special Colts guitar in Purdue’s guitar lab over Labor Day weekend to honor former Colts owner Jim Irsay (commissioned by Purdue alum Noah Scott). A Colts player will carry the guitar into the stadium before every game this season. Star City News
- ➤ Lafayette Jeff stars Aaden Aytch, Bryce VanOstran and Trysten Barrett are coaching in the Lafayette 59ers flag football program to help 64 young players learn the game safely—assistant coach Noah Ritchie said the program focuses on skill building and fun without the risks of tackle football. These volunteer coaches, who have also worked in other youth sports programs around Lafayette, aim to give the children a positive start in football. Journal & Courier
- ➤ Purdue coaches released a depth chart for Saturday’s game against USC — the chart shows which players will start on offense, defense, and special teams.
