- ➤ The Good Samaritan Project will host its free Back to School Celebration, Health Fair, and Gospel Fest on September 13 at MatchBOX Coworking Studio on South 6th Street from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Families will enjoy health screenings, school supplies, live gospel music, vendor booths, and fun activities—expanding last year’s outreach. - ➤ Greater Lafayette Commerce is accepting nominations for the 2025 Athena Leadership Award—an award that honors local women leaders who excel in their jobs and community work. Winners will be recognized at the annual celebration and nominations close on August 31. Star City News

- ➤ DIRECTV customers in Lafayette lost access to ABC, NBC, and Fox channels after contract talks broke down between DIRECTV and Star City Broadcasting on July 17. - ➤ A multi-county chase that began in Lebanon ended in Lafayette when 46-year-old Rickey Frank crashed his Chevrolet Silverado into a utility pole—he is now in custody and faces several charges while no bystanders were injured. Star City News

- ➤ Fowler Theatre, an 85-year-old venue in Fowler, faces closure in December if revenue does not improve after summer attendance fell from 100 to 30. The board plans fundraising events — including cookouts and ghost hunts — to help meet the $5,000 monthly operating cost. Journal & Courier

- ➤ Purdue University's Presidential Lecture Series will feature Indiana CEOs Mel Raines and Brent Yeagy discussing leadership with President Mung Chiang in the fall.
