- ➤ Downtown roads are closed today for the Taste of Tippecanoe festival, which returns tomorrow and attracts large crowds plus food, music and community festivities. - ➤ Kroger announced on Friday, June 20 that it will close 60 stores by the end of 2026 but it is not clear if any Indiana locations will be affected—The company said the closures represent about 2% of its stores and that affected employees will be offered roles in remaining locations. - ➤ Daniel Jacobsen, a 7-foot-4 Purdue sophomore who recovered from a broken tibia early in the season, has been named one of 12 players on the USA Basketball Under-19 team. He will train at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs and will compete in the FIBA World Cup from June 28 to July 6 in Lausanne—he is the seventh Purdue player to join the team since 2015. - ➤ Purdue women's basketball held its first open practice for the 2025-26 season on June 19, where freshman Avery Gordon scored with a flick of her wrist and coach Katie Gearlds noted improvements in players like Lana McCarthy and transfer guard Kiki Smith (with all but two players present). Freshman Hila Karsh missed the session due to visa issues, while guard Keona Douwstra is set to join the Netherlands U/20 team in mid-August. Journal & Courier
