- ➤ The West Lafayette Police Department will offer a women’s self-defense course through its RAD program from June 23 to 26 at West Lafayette Intermediate School (1838 N. Salisbury St.) each evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Participants will pay $20 and attend all four sessions to build skills in personal protection. Star City News
- ➤ On May 3rd, Lafayette will transform parts of 5th Street, Columbia, Ferry Street and Main Street for the 2025 Farmers Market, marking 180 years of this local event. - ➤ Indiana State Police detectives are investigating an inmate death at Tippecanoe County Jail after deputies found an unresponsive inmate on Friday and took him to a local hospital where he died Monday—preliminary findings indicate the injuries were self-inflicted and no foul play is suspected while the Coroner’s Office will release the inmate’s identity and cause of death. - ➤ Tuesday, Purdue basketball released its 20-game Big Ten schedule for the 2025-26 season that features home and away games against Indiana, Iowa, and Wisconsin — a favorable setup for the Boilermakers. The schedule also lists a Bahamas trip on Nov. 20-21 and nonconference contests with Alabama and Auburn — with conference dates and times yet to be finalized. Journal & Courier
- ➤ McCutcheon junior Trinity Wilburn returned to basketball on January 9 when she made a free throw that was voted the season’s top play, coming back after nearly two seasons off for two ACL tears and therapy at Forte Sports Medicine in Carmel—she credited her parents for their support. - ➤ Purdue women’s basketball hired former San Jose State head coach April Phillips as its new associate head coach, replacing Alex Guyton who left after the 2024-25 season. Journal & Courier
