- ➤ Greater Lafayette Indivisible organized a sign-making event at the West Lafayette Public Library on March 26 and coordinated logistics for the No Kings march on March 28, with volunteers (and security teams) supporting local civic activism. Journal & Courier

- ➤ Journal & Courier reporters won statewide journalism awards from the Society of Professional Journalists Indianapolis chapter on April 21. Veteran Ron Wilkins, Purdue student Seth Nelson, Israel Schuman and former photographer Alex Martin were among those honored for outstanding work in reporting. Journal & Courier
- ➤ On Sunday, the Greater Lafayette Holocaust Remembrance Committee held its 45th candle lighting ceremony at Temple Israel, where both Mayor Roswarski and Mayor Easter joined residents to read and sign a proclamation honoring survivors and reaffirming community remembrance. Star City News

- ➤ On April 21, 2026, Purdue's faculty senate cast a 74% no confidence vote against Provost Patrick Wolfe amid concerns over unilateral decision-making (faculty discussed the issue for over two hours via Zoom). Journal & Courier
- ➤ Jefferson High School's robotics team qualified for the FIRST World Championship by winning the State Engineering Inspiration Award at the Indiana championship on April 21; the team will compete in Houston from April 29 to May 2 — 600 teams will vie on eight fields named for famous scientists. - ➤ Purdue announced on Tuesday that five members of the Falcon 9 landing team received the inaugural Neil Armstrong Space Prize for excellence in space discovery; they will be honored this fall in Washington, D.C. Star City News

- ➤ Tree Lafayette will host a free Arbor Day Celebration on May 2 at 9 a.m. at the corner of Commanche Trail and Chaucer Drive + Mayor Roswarski will read a proclamation before volunteers plant 62 trees along nearby streets. Star City News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Indiana State Police posts will accept unused prescription drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Apr. 24 in Lafayette and Putnamville and on Saturday, Apr. 25 at all posts as part of a nationwide DEA take-back program for safe + anonymous disposal of medications and select vaping supplies. - ➤ Indiana’s gas sales tax may rise by 6.1 cents per gallon in May if Gov. Braun does not extend his temporary suspension until May 8 (the rate set from retail gas averages would jump from 17.2 to 23.3 cents per gallon). WLFI

- ➤ Purdue volleyball is unveiling a four-part documentary series called Laying the Tracks that shows the team’s historic rise to a national record ranking. The series will debut Friday on Purdue Athletics social media and YouTube, covering the journey from off-season to postseason. WLFI
