COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ CityBus is partnering with Purdue student groups for a Fill-the-Bus food drive that collects food donations from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. all week while parked across from Memorial Mall on campus. On Friday the bus will drop off the donations at Food Finders Food Bank (which will distribute them locally). WLFI
- ➤ Students at Edgelea Elementary and local families painted rocks to celebrate Lafayette’s 200-year anniversary as Tippecanoe and Lafayette school corporations worked together to teach teamwork and show community unity—colored rocks will be placed around town for everyone to find. Star City News

- ➤ Local butcher shop owner Lucas Roosa is fighting a rezoning proposal on Veteran’s Memorial Parkway that could let the space be sold to an oil change service. The request was withdrawn for today’s Area Plan Commission meeting—though it might be re-submitted later. Star City News

- ➤ The Beach Boys will perform at Loeb Stadium on Sept. 18 as part of Lafayette's bicentennial celebrations. Tickets will go on sale online and at the Long Center on April 18 — the show is a stop on their 2025 Sounds of Summer Tour. Journal & Courier
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local librarians say that state bills SB 1 and HB 1001 and federal cuts are threatening Tippecanoe libraries by reducing the funds they rely on—these bills passed Tuesday and now head to the governor's office. Library leaders warn that the changes may force libraries to cut key programs and services for the community. Journal & Courier
- ➤ Indiana Gov. Mike Braun signed nine orders on Tuesday to change public health rules in the state, focusing on SNAP, Medicaid and chronic disease prevention. The orders (part of the Make Indiana Healthy Again campaign) remove candy and soda from SNAP items, require work for non-exempt recipients and start school fitness programs along with a study on diet-related illnesses. - ➤ Seven international students, including five Chinese students at Purdue, are suing the Department of Homeland Security over revoked F-1 visas that may lead to swift deportation if they do not leave voluntarily (lawsuit filed Tuesday). Journal & Courier
