- ➤ Atlanta-based Gray Media completed its purchase of WTHI-TV (Terre Haute) and WLFI-TV (Lafayette) from Allen Media Group on April 7; FCC and DOJ approved the deal two weeks ago, and the stations will continue to support local storytelling. WLFI

- ➤ The Lafayette Symphony will debut the world premiere of 'Cabaret Brawl' and honor student performers on April 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Long Center for the Performing Arts. - ➤ Glen Acres third-graders were named state champs in the NCAA Read to the Final Four contest on April 7 — the students competed against 300 schools statewide and logged impressive reading minutes to secure the title. Journal & Courier

- ➤ Migrating pelicans have joined other wildlife at Celery Bog Nature Area in West Lafayette as spring takes hold. The birds have been spotted for weeks and are expected to return for several more days as residents enjoy the 4.3-mile paved trails and 2.5-mile natural paths. Journal & Courier

- ➤ Franciscan Health, Safe Kids Greater Lafayette and Lafayette Family YMCA have announced Safe Kids Day on Apr. 25 from 10 a.m. to noon at Lafayette Family YMCA (3001 South Creasy Lane), where children can learn CPR, fire protection, child car seat safety, helmet fittings and view a fire truck and ambulance. - ➤ Purdue basketball walk-on Aaron Fine entered the transfer portal on Tuesday, April 7, keeping his option to return open as he seeks more playing time amid a loaded backcourt. He played nine games this season. Journal & Courier
