CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Lafayette man, Cornelio Caal-Tiul (25), was arrested on March 26 on charges of child exploitation, child molestation and possession of child pornography after local law enforcement followed a CyberTip and executed a search warrant at his home. Star City News
- ➤ A Lafayette man, Sancho Lee Phosingkham, 29, was charged with felony domestic battery and invasion of privacy after he allegedly assaulted a woman at a hotel on Meijer Drive on April 1 amid a violation of a no-contact order—he is now held at Tippecanoe County Jail. Star City News

- ➤ Drivers at the Ninth and Kossuth intersection have faced bumpy rides since the reopening in 2021 because loose pavers require frequent resets — city officials expect permanent repairs to begin only in 2026 once funding for the necessary roadwork is secured. Journal & Courier
- ➤ Indiana lawmakers approved a bill that allows foster and emancipated teens 16 and older to open bank accounts without an adult co-signer—an action that sends the measure to the governor for final approval. State Rep. Chris Campbell said the change will help protect minors from financial abuse and support student employment. Star City News
- ➤ Gov. Mike Braun activated the Indiana National Guard to help with storm recovery after severe weather hit at least 41 counties — state agencies began sandbagging to protect homes. She credited her father for teaching her speed and said she has no plans to transfer as she finishes her studies in elementary education and works to help her team win a conference tournament.
