- ➤ On Monday, The Arts Federation celebrated its 50-year milestone in Lafayette as local leaders gathered at a ceremony where Economic Development Director Dennis Carson (recipient of the Arts Champion Award) was honored. Star City News
- ➤ The Purdue Wind Ensemble will join high school bands from Randolph County for a historic concert on April 12 from 1 to 2:15 p.m. in West Lafayette, Ind — an event celebrating America’s 250th birthday and offering mentorship and scholarship insights. WLFI

- ➤ Lafayette School Corp. is hosting a free family night today at Sunnyside Intermediate School from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. where guest speaker D.J. Batiste will present 'The Power of Encouragement' and meet with families. Journal & Courier
- ➤ Purdue alumnus Tom Spurgeon — a longtime trustee and supporter of campus improvements — died Saturday, March 28 at age 87. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. April 8 at First United Methodist Church in Peoria, Illinois. Journal & Courier
- ➤ At Rawls Hall in West Lafayette, K-12 students are acting as business owners by creating, marketing and selling products in the Classroom Business Enterprise program — a hands-on course that builds budgeting, teamwork and entrepreneurial skills. WLFI
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A grant from Duke Energy Foundation lets Tippecanoe County residents get up to 10 free native trees or shrubs when they remove invasive plants. Applicants must show before-and-after photos and pick up replacements at the fall Native Tree & Shrub Sale, with applications open until Aug. 1 or until 200 spots fill. WLFI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ INDOT will close one eastbound lane on Sagamore Parkway in West Lafayette one at a time starting April 6—maintenance work, including structure repairs, drainage improvements, and an asphalt patch between Cumberland Avenue and Neil Armstrong Drive, is expected to continue until June subject to weather conditions. - ➤ Tippecanoe County commissioners proposed a 400 acre cap on large-scale solar projects during Wednesday’s Area Plan Commission meeting and will vote on the ordinance amendment on April 15 at 6 p.m. at the Tippecanoe County Building (20 N.). Journal & Courier

- ➤ Faith Christian girls volleyball moved from 1A to 2A following IHSAA’s announced realignment on March 31, 2026 in Lafayette. Coach Josh Hill said the team is excited for the new challenge + the change aims to build on its recent state appearances. Journal & Courier
- ➤ Indiana State rallied in the fourth inning to beat Purdue 12-4 on Tuesday at Bob Warn Field, with key plays by Caleb Niehaus and Camden Miller driving the run surge. Both teams will meet again on April 21 in West Lafayette. WLFI
