COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The city is hosting the De-Trash the Wabash community river cleanup on Apr. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon along the river, with lunch provided and online registration open until Apr. 9 (secure your spot early).  Star City News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The American Heart Association awarded a $500 grant to Purdue Heart Club to support CPR training events on campus, providing two CPR in Schools Kits (mannikins and training materials) for student-led lifesaving education that aims to improve emergency response rates.  WLFI

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Columbian Park Zoo is welcoming three hellbenders today as part of the Help the Hellbender Program to track clean water in local streams. The zoo partnered with the Indiana Department of National Resources and Purdue University to support conservation efforts.  Star City News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A preliminary draft of Tippecanoe County's solar ordinance outlines increased setback requirements, enhanced decommissioning standards, and a cap of 6,000 acres for large-scale projects. The Area Plan Commission will debate these changes at a meeting (April 1, 4:30–7 p.m.) in the county office building.  Journal & Courier

  • A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until midnight EDT for many central Indiana counties including West Lafayette, prompting caution among residents. Meanwhile, Purdue's Boilers will face the Longhorns as they vie for a trip to the Elite Eight in a Sweet Sixteen matchup.  WLFI
  • Purdue basketball advanced to the Elite Eight on Thursday, Mar. 26 — as Trey Kaufman-Renn’s clutch putback with 0.7 seconds left secured a 79-77 win over Texas — at SAP Center.  Journal & Courier
  • After Purdue beat Texas on Thursday and advanced to the Elite Eight, the team will face either top-seeded Arizona or fourth-seeded Arkansas tomorrow to try for a spot in the Final Four.  Journal & Courier
  • Purdue Baseball beat UIC 18-13 at Alexander Field on Wednesday with early home runs by Brandon Rogers and Trey Swiderski. The long game lasted over four hours, featured seven home runs, and tied the (31-run record) at the field.  WLFI
