- ➤ Lafayette Police will host MaliBLUE Jack’s event today at Malibu Jack’s from 4 to 7 p.m. Families can enjoy games and giveaways, with 150 children receiving a pass for one attraction or $12 in game play, and 10 percent of proceeds benefiting the Lafayette Police Foundation. Journal & Courier

- ➤ Downtown business owners are concerned that rising rents and operating costs are straining local shops — they worry that if these costs continue, even successful businesses may be priced out and storefronts could be left empty. Star City News

- ➤ St. Elizabeth School of Nursing will host an information day for prospective nursing students on Friday, April 17 from 1 to 3 p.m. at its campus on Hartford Street in Lafayette (facility tours and sessions on registration, curriculum, and financial aid will be provided). WLFI
- ➤ Teens ages 13-14 can now apply for McAllister Rec Center's Junior Camp Counselor program that pays $55 a week and supports summer camps running from May 22 to Aug. 5; applications are available online. Star City News
- ➤ Greater Lafayette Commerce opened nominations for the 2027 Golden Apple Awards to recognize outstanding educators, and nominations close May 1 (applications can be submitted online). Star City News
- ➤ Former West Lafayette teacher Kathy Nimmer has been named a 2026 Helen Keller Achievement Award recipient by the American Foundation for the Blind and will be honored on April 23 in New York City for her work supporting people with vision challenges. Journal & Courier
- ➤ West Lafayette Community School Corporation Board has been recognized by the Indiana School Boards Association for its commitment to professional development, with a majority of members earning at least 75 points in training.
