COMMUNITY NEWS

  • West Lafayette will host a Spring Egg Hunt on March 28 at the John R. Dennis Wellness Center for children (ages 2 to 11) with staggered start times. Registration is open now and families should arrive 15 minutes early.  Star City News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Bennett's Greenhouse in Lafayette is preparing for increased customers this weekend as residents start spring planting on the first day of spring. The greenhouse has worked since January and promises more spring plants will bloom soon (signaling a vibrant season ahead).  Star City News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Franciscan Health Lafayette will host a four-day Explore Healthcare Career Camp for high school juniors and seniors from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 15 to 18 at its Central campus on Hartford Street, where students gain hands-on healthcare experience and network with professionals.  WLFI

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Volunteers are needed to clean the banks of the Wabash River at Tapawingo Park through the semi-annual De-Trash the Wabash event on April 11. Participants will meet at 9 a.m. at the Riverside Skating Rink — then proceed along the Wabash Heritage Trail for trash collection.  Journal & Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers on Teal Road should expect lane restrictions starting Tuesday, Mar. 24 as INDOT begins alternating single-lane closures between Elston Road and Windy Hill Drive — allowing crews to install temporary traffic signals for a bridge deck overlay over the Norfolk Southern railroad — with work set to finish in early September.  WLFI

SPORTS NEWS

  • Purdue’s Liam Murphy made his NCAA Tournament debut on Friday, March 20 at the Enterprise Center — hitting a three-pointer with 46 seconds remaining to help Purdue beat Queens 104-71 in a first-round win.  Journal & Courier
  • Purdue point guard Braden Smith was named a semifinalist for the Naismith Award after setting a Big Ten record with 317 assists while averaging 14.0 points, 9.1 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game. The Boilermakers will face Queens University in the NCAA Tournament first round Friday at 7:35 p.m. ET.  WLFI
  • Purdue will play former Hoosier Malik Reneau of Miami in the NCAA Tournament's second round today — a matchup that could settle past scores. Reneau, who is having a career year, said his familiar rivalry adds extra pressure for a strong defensive showing.  Journal & Courier
  • In Purdue's tournament opener today, Braden Smith broke Bob Hurley's career assist record with 1,077 assists while scoring 26 points as four Boilermakers posted double-digit scores — the team will face the winner of the Missouri-Miami game Sunday.  WLFI
