COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Tippecanoe Housing Solutions Coalition will host a three-day series of community discussions on housing challenges from April 8—10 that cover eviction prevention, homeownership opportunities, and housing supply increases; a forum will follow on April 11. Local residents can register in advance to secure a seat during these sessions.  WLFI

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Tippecanoe County Historical Association will host a free guided walking tour that highlights Lafayette's historic church architecture on March 29 — visitors are advised to wear comfortable walking shoes.  Star City News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Indiana House passed Senate Enrolled Act 74 today with a vote of 87 to 3 to expand the Lifeline Law so that legal protections cover those who call for help for someone suffering from alcohol overconsumption. The bipartisan bill was sponsored by State Sen. Ron Alting of Lafayette and now moves to the governor's desk for review — a step that could help save lives.  Star City News
  • The Tippecanoe Area Plan Commission voted (13 to 1) to approve the rezone for Arbor Homes to build 244 houses in Lafayette despite neighbors raising concerns about increased traffic near McCutcheon High School. The proposal will go to the Tippecanoe County commissioners for a vote on April 7.  Journal & Courier

HEALTH NEWS

  • Ivy Tech Community College hosted the traveling Active Minds Send Silence Packing Exhibit that shares personal stories to raise suicide awareness and connect people with mental health help. The exhibit has reached over one million people in more than 300 communities — its impact is shown by the feedback from visitors.  WLFI

SPORTS NEWS

  • Purdue built a 10-point lead at halftime against High Point in its NCAA Tournament opening game after key rebounds led to putback dunks by Myles Colvin + Camden Heide. The team controlled the game in Providence and set a strong tone for the contest.  Journal & Courier
  • Purdue basketball advanced to the NCAA Tournament second round by defeating High Point—Cam Heide, Will Berg and Myles Colvin played key roles to overcome the team's first-time March Madness opponent. The Boilermakers will play either Clemson or McNeese on Saturday—tip-off timing is yet to be set.  Journal & Courier
