  • Ken McCammon, co-founder of Mosey Down Main Street and a dedicated volunteer, died Friday at 74, leaving behind a legacy seen in local events that helped revitalize downtown & foster neighborly connections with plans for a community celebration of life underway.  Journal & Courier

CULTURE NEWS

  • Noriteo, a store offering Korean food + beauty products + K-pop merchandise and photo experiences, will open at Tippecanoe Mall on April 15. It is part of Able Solutions USA’s Indiana expansion.  Journal & Courier

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The West Lafayette School Board approved a new policy on Monday night that lets a limited number of nonresident students apply for enrollment when space is available (using a fair and transparent lottery system), while students living in the district retain guaranteed spots based on class sizes.  Star City News
  • Lafayette School Corporation announced six teachers as Noyce Fellows today to help meet K-12 STEM microelectronics workforce needs through a program at Purdue University funded by the National Science Foundation. The district is one of four in Indiana participating in the fellowship.  Star City News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles is urging drivers to check their tires and avoid risky maneuvers during wet conditions as part of Severe Weather Preparedness Week (each branch offers shelter services during heavy rains).  WLFI

HEALTH NEWS

  • IU Health Cancer Center in Lafayette earned a three-year gold seal accreditation in radiation oncology from the American College of Radiology, showing it meets strict safety and quality standards. It now plans to build a new cancer center at Arnett Hospital (expected to open in 2028) to offer expanded treatment options.  WLFI

SPORTS NEWS

  • Purdue senior point guard Braden Smith has been named one of five finalists for the Bob Cousy Award today+ marking his third straight nomination as he aims to be the first two-time winner.  WLFI
  • Purdue senior point guard Braden Smith earned his third consecutive first-team All-Big Ten honor on Tuesday, joining an elite group not seen in 56 years (since Rick Mount last achieved the feat). His performance bolstered his leadership in assists as the Boilermakers prepared for postseason play.  Journal & Courier
  • Harrison senior guard Quinn Clary overcame injury setbacks and a one-game suspension to become a team leader who mentors younger players. He will play in the IHSAA class 4A regional championship against Homestead at the Berry Bowl in Logansport on Saturday, Mar. 14 at 4 p.m.  Journal & Courier
