- ➤ LTHC Homeless Services launched Helping Families Come Home to raise $10,000 by March 31 for local families needing stable housing and community support; the campaign calls on donors to contribute $250-$500. Journal & Courier
- ➤ Organizers from Greater Lafayette Indivisible plan a 'No Kings' march expecting 5,000 to 6,000 participants and requested street closures around the Tippecanoe County Courthouse for safety. The street closure request will be reviewed on March 10 ahead of the event on March 28. Journal & Courier

- ➤ Families and residents can experience a free Maple Sugaring living history event at the Fort Ouiatenon blockhouse this weekend. Reenactors will show early 18th century life with demonstrations and hands-on activities that teach traditional and modern maple sugaring techniques. WLFI

- ➤ Purdue University announced that renowned drug discovery pioneer Phil Low died Wednesday, March 5 at age 78. He developed cancer therapies and founded seven companies before leaving behind his wife, five children, and 19 grandchildren. Journal & Courier
- ➤ Senator Ron Alting welcomed eight high school Senate pages yesterday at the Statehouse, where the students toured the historic building and watched debates. Four of the students were from Lafayette, making the experience especially local. Star City News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The city of Lafayette is advising residents to avoid water in areas with heavy runoff after recent rains, as excess stormwater may carry untreated waste (including debris and toxic materials). The advisory is in effect for at least three days. Star City News

- ➤ Utility work has closed the northbound lane of South Creasy Lane between SR 38 and McCarty Lane and the westbound lane of SR 38 East near Poplar Lane from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.—these closures continue until March 27. Star City News
- ➤ Dawn Baldwin, who spent ten years homeless and now runs a dog walking business and serves on a local board, spoke out against Senate Bill 285 signed by Governor Braun (the bill criminalizes sleeping or camping in public). She urged lawmakers to offer more compassionate support to those in need. Star City News
