- ➤ West Lafayette Parks and Rec and Riverside Skating Center will host Dare to Bare on Feb. 6 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Riverside Skating Center, inviting locals to skate in swimwear with a jungle theme—while enjoying hot cocoa and pizza. Star City News

- ➤ Purdue University's online master's programs in engineering + education earned national rankings in a US News and World Report study released Jan. 27, with five engineering degrees ranked #1 and the education degree ranked #2. Star City News
- ➤ Purdue University in West Lafayette is closing its Department of Agricultural Sciences, Education and Communications in June because a new state law requires programs to meet enrollment minimums; current students can finish their degrees and 11 tenured faculty will be reassigned within the College of Agriculture. - ➤ The Tippecanoe County Child Fatality Review Team will present findings on 2025 child deaths and discuss online safety during a forum on Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. to noon at the county office building at 20 N. 3rd St. in Lafayette, where questions about safe sleep practices may be asked. - ➤ Indiana lawmakers approved House Bill 1086 on Jan. 27, allowing schools to display the Ten Commandments with fewer restrictions & no readings aloud; the bill now moves to the House floor amid religious freedom concerns. Journal & Courier
- ➤ Indiana National Guard wrapped up its winter storm mission Tuesday after nearly 300 troops assisted motorists on highways in central and southern areas & recorded 192 engagements, 87 vehicles aided, and 16 drivers transported. WLFI

- ➤ Health officials warn residents to watch for early signs of frostbite and hypothermia, including red, painful skin, numbness, shivering and drowsiness; if symptoms appear, get to a warm room, remove wet clothing and seek medical care immediately. Star City News
- ➤ On Jan. 27, Purdue University and partners launched the Center for AI and Robotic Excellence in Medicine (CARE) in Indianapolis to advance AI and robotics in medical research and training.
