- ➤ Trent Klingerman was named chief of staff to Purdue’s president on Monday. A Purdue graduate of 1994, he has held leadership roles including vice president for human resources and deputy general counsel. Star City News

- ➤ IU Health registered dietitian Carrie Anderson offered local advice for those planning New Year’s resolutions to eat healthier and lose weight. She recommended cutting extra soda and restaurant meals, pairing carbs with protein and fiber, and taking 30 minutes to walk several times a week. Star City News

- ➤ Purdue basketball coach Matt Painter said the Boilermakers are getting ready to host Washington on Wednesday. He noted that the team's strong preparation and focus on home court could give them a key advantage. Journal & Courier
- ➤ When Braden Smith got into foul trouble early, coach Matt Painter let freshman Omer Mayer lead the offense for Purdue as they rallied to beat Washington 81 to 73 at Mackey Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 7. Mayer scored eight points in 15 minutes while helping Purdue achieve its sixth win in a row. Journal & Courier
- ➤ Washington freshman Hannes Steinbach was averaging 18.3 points & 11.8 rebounds before facing Purdue center Daniel Jacobsen at Mackey Arena on Wednesday. Jacobsen, who played Steinbach in a FIBA U19 title game in Switzerland, said he wanted to prove his skills in the matchup. Journal & Courier
- ➤ Karsyn Cherry, a Central Catholic alum (2-time Player of the Year), signed with Angel City FC in the National Women’s Soccer League after a standout college career at Louisville and a record-setting run at Central Catholic where she led her team to a state championship. Journal & Courier
