COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ A health care service in Lafayette partnered with Home Instead and Guardian Angels Hospice to deliver Christmas cards to seniors in local living communities, including Saint Anthony’s Rehabilitation, last Thursday — over 2,000 cards were shared to brighten the season. Elementary school students designed the messages to spread holiday cheer. WLFI
- ➤ Franciscan Health in Western Indiana received eight full boxes of toys from the Toys for Tots program on Dec. 22 at the Lafayette East campus. The donation will serve children in the emergency department, the NICU, and other pediatric offices at several regional Franciscan Health sites. WLFI
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ McCutcheon High School sophomore Valeria Campos died in a chain-reaction car accident while on a family trip to visit relatives in Mexico — the Tippecanoe School Corporation confirmed the loss and will offer school counseling starting Jan. 5. Star City News

- ➤ Local residents in downtown Lafayette shared unique holiday food traditions today, with one person savoring turkey gravy & mashed potatoes while another prepared apricot chicken and latkes, and some opting for Chinese takeout and candy canes. Star City News
- ➤ Purdue professor Mark French and alumnus Noah Scott built a custom guitar using NFL leather from Wilson’s factory (source of official NFL game balls) that debuted on Monday Night Football, showcasing Purdue’s innovative blend of design and engineering. Star City News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Purdue University approved a partnership with Google to enhance its AI curriculum and launch a Google AI Hub on campus. The five-year deal (costing $14.7 million) will provide students and researchers with state-of-the-art AI tools starting fall 2026. Journal & Courier
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Indiana consumers with Google Play accounts can register now on the settlement website to claim part of a $10.5M payout for alleged anticompetitive practices, with payments via PayPal or Venmo expected after court approval. Consumers must request exclusion by Feb. 19 to opt out. Star City News
