  • The Good Samaritan Project is hosting the 2025 Kwanzaa Celebration this Saturday at 3 p.m. at MatchBOX Coworking Studios. The event will include live music, dance, youth performances and a cultural marketplace plus community awards to recognize unity and family.  Star City News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA reports that the national average gas price is $2.85 per gallon as Tippecanoe County drivers pay about $2.91—a level not seen this December since 2020. Experts say oil prices and steady refinery output will keep fuel affordable for holiday trips.  Star City News

HEALTH NEWS

  • The American Red Cross is asking for blood and platelet donors to donate at local events, including at IU Health - Greenbush in Lafayette today (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) to maintain supplies through January 4.  WLFI

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Lafayette residents are preparing for holiday travel as some head to Columbus for family dinners while others plan to stay home for local gatherings. AAA expects 122 million people to travel nationwide this season.  Star City News
  • With Christmas near, downtown shoppers are still finding gifts today as local stores offer immediate options and plans for post-holiday clearance. Many residents frequent spots like Flora Candle Shop and McCord’s (some say deals improve after Christmas).  Star City News

  • Harrison junior guard Brody Baker hosted the Lafayette area plays of the week (Dec. 15–20) by showcasing a reel of pins and buzzer beaters that captured top moments from local games.  Journal & Courier
  • Purdue football has seen five coaches since Tiller retired in 2008 while chasing the championship level of its 2000 season; current coach Barry Odom said the team is rebuilding its winning tradition after 18 straight Big Ten losses since last season.  Journal & Courier
