- ➤ Residents fueling up for holiday road trips find Indiana gas prices vary from $2.697 in Vermillion County to $3.002 in Union County — state averages are slightly below the national rate reported on Dec. 19. Journal & Courier
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Faculty representing Asian professors urged Purdue University on Dec. 19 to review graduate admissions practices in West Lafayette after reports showed that applications from certain countries were being denied admission (the group said this move undermines fairness and academic freedom). - ➤ Caterpillar Lafayette hosted a career exploration day at the Lafayette Engine Center where Tri-County Junior and Senior High School students learned about engine manufacturing and assembly — touring the facility and participating in basic assembly training and hands-on activities. - ➤ This week, the Lafayette Historic Preservation Commission approved new protections for City Hall and the Long Center to guide exterior changes and preserve historic details. The City Council will vote soon on adding them to local historic districts. Star City News
- ➤ City Bus Board member Joel Wright—who has served 37 years—received the Distinguished Citizen Award this week. Star City News

- ➤ Purdue football announced coaching changes for the 2026 season on Dec. 19, adding Kevin Kane as defensive coordinator—returning from a season at Minnesota—and naming Zach Crabtree as offensive line coach while promoting Bilal Marshall for receivers.
