BUSINESS NEWS

  • Lafayette residents debated putting up Christmas decorations before or after Thanksgiving while holiday light installer Jeremy Birge of Mobile Wash Xpress began serving about 50 clients with custom setups—charging around $800 for a tailored service that starts in November and runs through the season.  Journal & Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lafayette will inspect traffic signals at intersections on South Street & several connecting roads during the week of Nov. 30, and drivers should expect lights to flash for 10-15 minutes during the inspections.  Star City News
  • Senator Spencer Deery (R-West Lafayette) announced Monday that applications are being accepted for the 2026 Indiana Senate Page Program, which gives students in grades 6 to 12 the chance to tour the Statehouse, hear debates, and assist with tasks. The program begins in January and runs on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with groups serving together on Wednesdays.  WLFI

SPORTS NEWS

  • Joe Tiller's 2001 Rose Bowl ring is up for auction on eBay until Dec. 7 — donated by his wife to support the Tiller Scholarship Endowment. Bids have already exceeded $16,800 as Purdue fans look to add this rare piece to their collection.  Journal & Courier
  • Today, Purdue basketball expects forward Liam Murphy to be available for the Big Ten opener against Rutgers. The transfer senior from North Florida has not played since November 7 and recovered from a shoulder injury on November 15—he practiced on November 26 to be ready.  Journal & Courier
  • Local readers, parents, fans, and coaches in Lafayette are invited to cast unlimited votes for the early-season Girls Basketball Player of the Year award from the Journal and Courier poll, which will close December 6 at noon—voters choose from nominees in a preseason top-50 list organized by sports reporter Ethan Hanson.  Journal & Courier
  • Purdue volleyball coach Dave Shondell said players' loyalty (shown by their 'Ever Grateful' shirts) kept him from retiring, and the team will host NCAA tournament matches at Holloway Gymnasium soon (after adding key transfers and keeping a strong team spirit).  Journal & Courier
  • On November 24, a series of And 1 plays from West Lafayette and Crawfordsville — along with a milestone play in Rossville — defined the Lafayette area plays of the week.  Journal & Courier
  • Special Olympics Indiana announced that it now serves over 20,000 athletes statewide—growing from a few participants when it began—and that its youth, adult and Unified programs in over 600 schools show its strong commitment to athletes with intellectual disabilities.  WLFI
