CULTURE NEWS

  • The Leonid meteor shower will peak tonight with up to 15 meteors per hour visible from Lafayette as the waning crescent moon at 9% full offers minimal interference. Observers are advised to find dark areas away from light to fully enjoy the view.  Journal & Courier

SPORTS NEWS

  • Former Purdue football coach Ryan Walters, still on Purdue's payroll, led Washington's defense that beat Purdue 49-13 on Saturday night at Husky Stadium. The loss marked Purdue's 17th Big Ten defeat — its most lopsided result during a nine-game losing streak.  Journal & Courier
  • Lafayette Jeff lost the IHSAA 5A regional championship 47-45 when Concord senior Nathan Potter kicked a 48-yard field goal as time expired—coach Shanley said his team fought hard but fell short. The Bronchos, who had led much of the second half, will try for the title next season.  Journal & Courier
  • Purdue Wrestling head coach Tony Ersland spoke after his team earned a 3-0 win at the Boilermaker Duals, saying their strong teamwork + dedication showed in the match. He added that this performance set a promising tone for their upcoming competitions.  WLFI
