HEALTH NEWS

  • Today, as daylight saving time ends, the American Red Cross urges residents to test smoke alarms and replace batteries to cut the risk of a home fire death by half—local volunteers have already assisted 4,326 people affected by home fires this year.  WLFI

SPORTS NEWS

  • Devin Mockobee, who played 45 consecutive games for Purdue, missed Saturday’s game against Michigan after sustaining an injury, and coach Barry Odom said he is unsure if or when the running back will return. The team shifted responsibilities to Malachi Thomas and Antonio Harris, who combined for all touchdowns and 122 rushing yards in the loss.  Journal & Courier
  • On Saturday, Purdue football lost 21-16 to No. 21 Michigan as its Big Ten losing streak reached 15 games. Purdue had a long touchdown drive but struggled on short-yardage plays—allowing Michigan to secure the victory.  Journal & Courier
  • Faith Christian defeated South Newton and Rossville swept Triton in Saturday’s IHSAA 1A semistate volleyball matches in Frankfort—both teams advanced to face each other in a semistate final later that day— with the state championship game scheduled for next Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.  Journal & Courier
