Purdue researchers reported last night that they found no trace of Amelia Earhart’s missing plane on Nikumaroro (island in the Pacific), explaining that satellite images showed trees or ocean debris rather than wreckage.

The researchers noted that the theory of a stranded aircraft remains possible.
