- ➤ Ivy Tech Journal & Courier has opened voting for Athlete of the Week nominees who competed in soccer, volleyball and cross country from Oct. 6 to 11—votes can be submitted by email or Instagram until Oct. 16. Journal & Courier
- ➤ Local sports fans are asked to vote for the Ivy Tech Week 8 top football performer from nine nominees representing schools like Frontier, Twin Lakes, and Lafayette Jeff. Voting is open until Oct. 16 — sports reporter Ethan Hanson says the poll is ongoing and encourages participation. Journal & Courier
- ➤ Indiana high school football playoff sectional draws have been announced with round one for 4A-1A schools set on Oct. 24 and for 5A and 6A schools on Oct. 31. Lafayette area teams, including Lafayette Jeff, are named in the brackets as sections were revealed during the live drawing show. Journal & Courier
- ➤ At Holloway Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon, No. 1 ranked Nebraska swept Purdue 25-23, 25-16, 25-13 as junior Kenna Wollard scored 14 kills—Purdue ended a three-match losing streak while coach Dave Shondell praised star Andi Jackson, who is expected to join the Olympic team in three years.
