COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Lafayette Journal & Courier is a daily newspaper owned by Gannett that serves Lafayette and nearby communities. It began in 1920 when two local papers merged and now works from the Life Building on Main St—its reporters provide fair and unbiased news and sports coverage.  Journal & Courier
  • The Lafayette Fire Department will perform its 27th annual Fire Prevention Show on Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. in the Sunnyside Intermediate School auditorium—featuring live music, audience participation, and characters like Sparky the Fire Dog to teach children fire safety.  Star City News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • West Lafayette has been designated a Bronze City by Charging Smart—making it one of the first four cities in Indiana to earn the honor for its work to make electric vehicles affordable and accessible. The designation highlights efforts led by the Great Plains Institute and Tyler Cairncross to improve local charging infrastructure.  Star City News
  • Lafayette will flush fire hydrants from Oct. 5—19 on Sunday through Thursday nights between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. The city said this flushing removes rust, debris, and sediment from water lines—if residents notice discolored cold water, they should call the provided numbers.  Star City News
