West Lafayette natives Grace and Sydney Gehlsen—who lived in Geneva, Switzerland while their father worked for Caterpillar—competed in the IHSAA regional girls golf championships at Battle Ground Golf with Sydney shooting 87 and Grace 88.

Their international experience, including learning French and exploring Europe, shaped their golf skills and marked a return to the sport after an early hiatus.
