HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Tippecanoe Health Department will host a women’s health fair on Oct. 1 from 4-7 p.m. + The event will offer free screenings, information, t-shirts, goodie bags and raffles for local women. Star City News
- ➤ Franciscan Physician Network Pediatrics will host two flu shot clinics for children ages six months to 18 years — one on Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and another on Nov. 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. Appointments must be made in advance and patients must bring an insurance card, though being a current patient is not required. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Purdue men’s basketball for the 2025-26 season began practice, and the team is preparing for its first game on Nov. 4 against Evansville. Head Coach Matt Painter said the players will work hard to improve — focusing on teamwork in every session. Star City News
- ➤ Purdue basketball will begin their exhibition season with a game at Kentucky’s historic Rupp Arena on Oct. 24 at 6 p.m.—the game will be broadcast on SEC Network. Journal & Courier
- ➤ During Thursday's match at Mackey Arena, Purdue's junior setter Taylor Anderson led her team to an 8th straight win over Washington by rallying from a 10-2 deficit and recording 39 assists before more than 6,000 fans. Journal & Courier
- ➤ Purdue is 2—2 after four games, winning matchups that were expected and losing contests that oddsmakers predicted would be easier. Special teams have shown strength while the offense and defense face challenges, and the Boilermakers will work to improve as they prepare for tougher opponents in October. Journal & Courier
- ➤ IHSAA state qualifier Lincoln Frazee transferred from North White to Rossville on September 25—he joins coach Thomas Lynch’s team after a 39-match winning streak this season and says he is chasing a dream of Division I and Olympic wrestling. Frazee’s move adds to the local talent at Rossville as the program continues to deepen its roster. Journal & Courier
