COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Tippecanoe County Library Holman Branch holds a book sale from Friday through Monday to raise funds for its programs—on Sunday books are half-priced and on Monday bags of books sell for three dollars.  Star City News

CRIME NEWS

  • A Lafayette woman was identified as the pedestrian killed in a motorcycle crash on Monday—confirmed by the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s office.  Star City News
  • Lafayette Police Department is asking the public for help identifying two suspects involved in a theft at Academy Sports last Monday — they were last seen leaving the parking lot in a Polaris Slingshot.  Star City News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students at Purdue Industrial Roundtable, which began Tuesday with nearly 400 companies in science, tech and engineering, faced many rejections while applying for jobs and internships. Some seniors said they improved their resumes – they remain hopeful that better preparation and campus career resources will lead to future opportunities.  Star City News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Tippecanoe Area Plan Commission is asking for public input on a proposed amendment that would add the Oakwood Village area to West Lafayette’s Downtown Plan and expand it by 82 acres. A public hearing is set for Oct. 1 at 4:30 p.m. at the Tippecanoe County Office Building + community feedback will guide future development.  Journal & Courier
  • The Lafayette Police Department is celebrating K9 Week by highlighting its working dogs—Officer Sam Gawaluck and his K9, Mac, who helped seize drugs and weapons—and hosting a golf outing fundraiser to support training and new equipment. The event shows how these dogs play a key role in keeping the community safe.  Star City News
