CRIME NEWS

  • Tippecanoe County deputies arrested 22-year-old Noah Conley—wanted on a probation violation warrant—after a 25-minute chase Sunday evening, and he now faces charges of resisting law enforcement, reckless driving and driving while suspended.  Star City News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, new and returning Purdue students started classes as freshmen like Gavin Daengsurisri and Nicole Goenner tried new courses and sophomores like Skyler Dimeola and Molly Dennis returned to a familiar campus. Many students plan to join clubs—focusing on good grades and building connections—as they embrace the new academic year.  Star City News
  • Purdue University is teaming with Elanco to build a new innovation district in Indianapolis — a project that will link the district to its main campus through the Hard Tech Corridor. Governor Mike Braun said the state sold downtown land to support the project and help create jobs in Indiana.  Star City News

  • The Tippecanoe Area Plan Commission approved plans for a new apartment complex by LTHC Homeless Services—featuring 40 units, on-site support services, and a dog park—on McCarty Lane to help veterans and people experiencing homelessness, with room for future expansion.  Star City News

  • Purdue head coach Barry Odom has named former colleague Josh Henson as offensive play caller for the Ball State opener on Aug. 30—reuniting them after nearly a decade. Henson will call from the press box—starting with a set script but adjusting plays as the game unfolds.  Journal & Courier
