ECONOMY NEWS

  • Zumper data shows Lafayette apartment rents stayed nearly the same with a median of about $1,200—one-bedroom units are listed at $960 while two-bedroom units dropped slightly from $1,249 to $1,199. The analysis includes all sizes from studios to four-bedroom apartments.  Journal & Courier
  • Indiana initial filings for unemployment dropped last week to 2,548 from 2,607, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. National jobless claims rose to 235,000 on a seasonally adjusted basis.  Journal & Courier

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • In Tippecanoe County, the median home listing dropped to $381,225 in July—down 6.4% from June and 4.7% from last July. New listings increased by 26.2% to 212—and homes took a median 38 days on the market at $179 per square foot.  Journal & Courier

  • Football season is back and a guide listing 23 tailgating essentials has been released to help fans prepare for high school, college, and NFL games — it details basic gear like canopies, chairs, portable chargers, and food supplies that will boost game day preparations.
