CRIME NEWS

  • A West Lafayette man was arrested after a traffic stop on State Road 26 near Interstate 65 when troopers and a Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s dog unit found suspected meth, syringes, and a gun in his car — and he now faces charges for drugs and weapons.  WLFI

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The United Way of Greater Lafayette launched its 2025 fundraising campaign at Purdue's Ross-Ade Stadium, aiming to net $4.5 million by the end of the year—funds that will support local charities amid economic challenges. HEALTH NEWS

  • McCutcheon High School paused freshman football practice and canceled Monday’s game after confirming 10 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease, and the school is enhancing cleaning in athletic facilities (most cases occurred among the football players).  Journal & Courier

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Thursday, Purdue football named eight team captains after a vote by the players. The captains are Ryan Browne, Devin Mockobee, Michael Jackson III, Jalen St. John, CJ Madden, Tony Grimes, An'Darius Coffey and Mani Powell — three of whom played with head coach Barry Odom at UNLV.  Journal & Courier
  • High school football started tonight as Lafayette Jeff kicked off the season with an exciting game where the band, cheerleaders, and dance team boosted the energy at the stadium. Coach Patrick Shanley and Athletic Director Justin Gardiner said the game teaches life skills and helps set a positive tone for the school year.  Star City News
  • Purdue women's basketball freshman guard Keona Douwstra will delay her debut and stay in the Netherlands for one more season as she plays in the Dutch National League. She said she is 100% committed to Purdue—planning to join the team after improving her skills abroad.  Journal & Courier
