  • Josh Smith, a former Attica football star who never received a Purdue offer, said the setback helped him build a strong career in college football and the Navy.   • Former West Lafayette and Purdue football star George Karlaftis signed a four-year, $93 million contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs (with $62 million guaranteed) as he enters his fourth NFL season.
