  • Today, McCaw Park celebrated the completion of phase two construction with a new walking trail, basketball courts and pickleball courts available for the public—city officials said the expansion was driven by strong community demand for more active spaces.  Star City News
  • Camp Tecumseh's CEO Joel Sieplinga expressed his condolences after the Camp Mystic tragedy and Texas flooding this past weekend and assured parents that the camp is taking extra safety steps—using weather radars, siren systems, and local emergency support to monitor conditions. The camp north of Lafayette, which serves over 36,000 guests a year, said it reviews forecasts and coordinates with local responders to adjust activities as needed.  Star City News

  • City officials confirmed West Lafayette will install more Park Mobile parking meters on 1st, 4th, 5th, and 6th streets + on Russell and Waldron later this month to improve parking management.  Star City News
  • West Lafayette Police Department is holding its final Drug Take Back event on July 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 711 W. Navajo Street—residents may drop off over-the-counter and prescription medications—and will pause the monthly program during construction of the new Public Safety Center until it reopens.  Star City News
  • Troy Allen Pownell has filed a federal lawsuit against Tippecanoe County Jail officials and contracted medical staff after his father, Troy Dean Pownell, died from sepsis when his severe abdominal pain was ignored—lawsuit documents claim that jail staff repeatedly dismissed his pleas for help as faked, delaying needed care.  Journal & Courier

  • IU Health Arnett Urgent Care at 1 Walter Scholer Drive in Lafayette closed in mid-May due to staffing shortages and will reopen on Aug. 4 — the attached primary care wing remained open.  Journal & Courier
