- ➤ Lafayette Urban Ministry’s cooling station is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm to help anyone beat extreme summer heat by offering water bottles, Wi-Fi, and seating — a service that welcomes all residents. Executive director Wes Tillet said the center opens when the heat index reaches 100 degrees to provide a safe place for relief. Star City News
