  • Lafayette’s annual Summer on the Square will take place at the Tippecanoe County Courthouse Square this Saturday, June 29, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.—the event will feature 60 local vendors, live music, food, and fun for all ages.  Star City News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Caterpillar celebrated its 100th anniversary at its large engine facility in Lafayette and hosted a special event with a mobile exhibit of its accomplishments. The company’s foundation donated $54,000 to Food Finders Food Bank to help local families—showing pride in its long legacy as it prepares for the future.  WLFI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Governor Braun’s Administration confirmed that all public universities in Indiana will not raise in-state tuition for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years and Purdue continues its 14-year tuition freeze. Some Purdue students say the freeze influenced their college choices—while others caution that fees may still increase.  Star City News

  • Today, Lafayette Fire Department paramedic Zach Wolf warned that rising heat may cause power outages that lead to air conditioner failures – urging residents to stay hydrated and visit indoor cooling shelters like libraries or malls.  Star City News
  • Officials in Lafayette and West Lafayette say fireworks will be allowed from June 29 to July 9 each evening from 5 p.m. until two hours after sunset + on July 4 they may be set off from 10 a.m. until midnight.  Star City News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Tippecanoe County Health Department Health Officer Dr. Seema Kengeri advises everyone to use sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and reapply every two hours during the summer heat. She also recommends wearing lightweight long sleeves and a wide-brimmed hat—especially for children—to protect against the strong UV rays.  Star City News
