- ➤ Plans for a new Dutch Bros Coffee in Lafayette show it will be built at 4 Shenandoah Drive near South Street next to Valvoline Instant Oil Change — the drive-through shop will cover 950 square feet while an opening date remains unannounced. - ➤ Lafayette police are cracking down on unruly short-term rental parties following shootings and arrests at Crowfoot Drive and Catula Lane, and they will warn landlords about zoning rules and fines — aiming to stop illegal gatherings before more harm occurs — by enforcing permit requirements. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Purdue University will keep in-state tuition and mandatory fees unchanged for the coming fiscal year—its 13th year of no increase—while planning to add fees for international and nonresident students, including an extra $500 for international undergraduates and a 3% fee for nonresident tuition. The university will maintain tuition freezes at its Fort Wayne and Northwest Indiana campuses as well. Journal & Courier

- ➤ Lafayette water officials said a March E. coli test from Well No. 14 was a false positive after a retest returned negative, but state rules forced public notices to appear on May and June bills — even though all 80 distribution sites tested clean. The department required these warnings, and officials remain available to answer questions from concerned customers — confirming the water supply is safe. Journal & Courier
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Indiana infant mortality rates reached their lowest level since record keeping began — 6.3 deaths per 1,000 live births — which shows the work by the Tippecanoe County Health Department’s FIMR team. The team will continue to promote safe sleep practices and better prenatal care to keep these rates decreasing. Star City News
