CRIME NEWS

  • Lafayette police responded at about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday to a call at 2705 Concord Road and found an adult man dead outside a pickup truck—officers noted a small-caliber handgun was discovered at the scene and are investigating the death as a possible suicide.  Journal & Courier

  • Indiana law does not set an age limit for kids left alone and parents must ensure their children are ready to handle emergencies before staying home by themselves — experts advise using checklists to assess skills like locking doors and calling 9-1-1.   • Tippecanoe County commissioners approved a one year pause on major solar projects+ the decision comes after local farmers raised concerns that the expansion could harm topsoil quality and lower property values while officials review land use and environmental impacts.  Star City News

  • North Newton pitcher Sydney Rainford led her team to a 4-0 win over Westville on June 3 with a strong bat and a key steal of home by Rylynn Klemz that earned the program its second regional title.
