  • Lafayette Parks and Recreation shared behind-the-scenes photos of the Columbian Park Carousel under construction on Facebook. The carousel will open when all safety requirements are met.  Star City News
  • The Good Samaritan Project is hosting a Law Enforcement Appreciation Gathering today at 10 a.m. at its Cincinnati Street location to honor local law enforcement (their service and sacrifice), and community members are invited to attend.  Star City News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Indiana utilities are building new natural gas plants + battery storage to power growing data centers by tech giants in Hobart, Michigan City and beyond. Regulatory filings show these projects may help meet rising energy demands while some centers are partially supported by renewable resources.  Journal & Courier

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Former Purdue president Mitch Daniels has been named interim president after Mung Chiang’s departure. He will assume the role in July as the university begins its national search for a new permanent leader.  Star City News
  • The West Lafayette Public Library will launch its Unearth a Story Program in June (offering engaging story readings and community learning for all ages) to spark local interest in reading.  Star City News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Three Faith Christian sisters made history by qualifying for the IHSAA state track meet after a record-breaking performance Tuesday at Scheumann Stadium. Ashley Caplinger advanced with a 2:12.48 finish while twin Allison and freshman Kimberly earned state slots scheduled for June 5 at North Central High School.  Journal & Courier
  • Purdue baseball ended its season 37-20 after a late Big Ten series loss cost the Boilers a spot in the NCAA Tournament; the team nearly upset No. 1 seed UCLA in the conference tournament.  Journal & Courier
  • Today, the Lafayette Aviators open their season at Columbian Park when they host the Normal Cornbelters — director Grant McGraw said the team hopes to repeat last year's Eastern Conference win in a smaller, charged atmosphere.  Star City News
