SPORTS NEWS

  • Former St. John's guard Tara Daye has committed to Purdue women's basketball to add guard depth—she averaged 6.5 points and 4.5 rebounds during her junior season and played only four games last season. • McCutcheon boys volleyball ended its first IHSAA season on Saturday with a 15-10 record after losing the sectional final to Zionsville 25-19, 25-14, 25-18 + Coach Keith Crisler said the team made important gains as first-year pioneers in the sport.  Journal & Courier
  • On May 16, Twin Lakes beat Western 11-5 to win the Hoosier Conference title with standout plays including sophomore Mason Brummett’s first out-of-the-park home run and Wagner’s pair of 3-run homers—while a thunderstorm caused a delay that pushed the game’s end to 7:30 p.m. Fans sheltered at Crabb-Ebel Field as play resumed after an over one-hour pause amidst strong winds and heavy rain.  Journal & Courier
  • McCutcheon boys volleyball coach Keith Crisler required players to turn off their phones by placing them in a clear plastic phone box before games to limit distractions and boost on-court communication.
