  • Starting May 24, Lafayette will celebrate its 200th anniversary at Columbian Park with discounted attractions, historical exhibits and live music plus family-friendly events scheduled through May 26 that include a free open field day and a Memorial Day program.  Star City News

  • Lafayette McDonald's on Sagamore Parkway reopened on Friday morning as new owners Michael and Andrea Dudley held a ribbon-cutting ceremony with remarks from local officials. The owners donated $500 to Lafayette Urban Ministry and VFW Post 1154 and contributed about $3,000 to local schools—efforts that signal plans for more local partnerships.  WLFI

CRIME NEWS

  • Warren Blakeley, 34, of Lafayette was sentenced Thursday to 20 years — 16 in prison and four on probation — after pleading guilty to multiple felony drug charges and resisting arrest following separate incidents on May 1, 2022 and September 16, 2024 in Tippecanoe County.  Star City News
  • West Lafayette police arrested a 16-year-old student from an alternative school on May 15 for allegedly assaulting his teacher with a laptop charging cord—after refusing to follow instructions in class at the old Happy Hollow School on Salisbury Street—and he is now held in juvenile detention.  Journal & Courier

  • Today, Purdue seniors celebrated graduation in a bittersweet ceremony that marked the end of their college careers and the start of their futures. Julia Szela—who earned her degree in biomedical engineering—and her fellow students shared the day with close family and friends.  Star City News

  • Purdue women's basketball added its second international player after guard Hila Karsh (from Israel) announced she would join the 2025-26 roster last Friday.
