  • Marianne Boruch, a West Lafayette poet and Purdue professor emerita, won the Jackson Poetry Prize on Friday, May 15. The award includes a $100,000 prize and honors her long career in poetry.  Journal & Courier

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Klondike Middle School’s Stand as Gentlemen Program celebrated its fifth graduating class today by teaching life skills like posture, respect, and conflict resolution. Sanford Swanson (with the West Lafayette police) leads the program that Principal Deborah Carter says empowers young men for future success.  Star City News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Next Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Lafayette and West Lafayette Fire Departments host a blood drive at 20 N. 6th Street, offering free first aid kits to donors while supplies last & appointments are preferred.  Star City News

  • Purdue’s Trey Kaufman-Renn improved his NBA Draft prospects after strong showings at the Portsmouth Invitational and G League Combine even though a minor ankle injury kept him out of scrimmages.
