COMMUNITY NEWS

  • West Lafayette will host Community Engagement Sessions at City Hall (22 N. Chauncey Ave.) on June 17 and Sept. 2 from 6-8 p.m. to gather public views on design concepts, site considerations, outdoor space, and programming for its Early Childhood Education Center.  Star City News
  • EPIC Insurance plans to refresh its sign at 2663 Duncan Road to bring back the popular puns for commuters on Sagamore Parkway. New tenants have moved into the building — the updated board is expected to feature the witty messages soon, according to administrative assistant Amanda Short.  Journal & Courier
  • This Friday, two group rides are scheduled for Bike to Work Day—one starts at 11th and Main, and the other at City Hall in West Lafayette at 8 a.m. The city will also hold a National Bike Month ceremony at Riehle Plaza at 8:30 a.m. with free coffee and snacks.  Star City News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Tuesday, University of Saint Francis hosted its grand opening for the new nursing school in Lafayette with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by President Lance Richey, Kevin C. Rhoades and Mayor Tony Roswarski. The campus will train local healthcare workers and create well paying jobs for the community.  Star City News
  • Purdue Polytechnic Institute Lafayette held its 2026 Commencement Ceremony last weekend to celebrate graduates; Mayor Roswarski addressed the crowd and the city shared photos online.  Star City News
  • Graduating Purdue students are planning to work or continue their studies amid long hiring processes as some secure local job offers while others apply to hundreds of positions & worry that rising AI use may affect future employment.  Star City News
  • Lafayette School Corporation approved two leadership hires on Monday — Ana Ave as preschool director at Linnwood Preschool and Jennifer Wright as transportation chief — with both set to begin on July 1. Ave brings 40 years of education experience, and Wright adds over 15 years in local school transportation.  WLFI

SPORTS NEWS

  • Harrison senior David Warner achieved his season-long goal by clearing 14 feet during Tuesday's four-team pole vault meet at Salisbury Athletic Complex in West Lafayette. He made three 14-3 attempts, which his coaches say built his confidence for next week's sectional meet (his record had been 13-9 at this site before).  Journal & Courier
  • Big Ten announced Purdue’s 2026-27 men's basketball pairings on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, showing a tougher road schedule that will have Purdue play key opponents away instead of just at Mackey Arena — dates, times and TV assignments will be given later.  Journal & Courier
