COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Last Friday, Greater Lafayette Commerce hosted a Latino Business Expo that brought together local entrepreneurs and small businesses for networking, live music, and family fun. Mayor Roswarski attended and congratulated organizers on the event's success.  Star City News
  • The West Lafayette Public Library will host a free Plant Swap event on April 29 at 10:30 a.m., where community members can share plants and gardening tips.  Star City News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Rossville teacher Kyle Etherington will attend a national seminar in New York City from July 31-Aug. 2 to study debates of the American Revolution. The program provided by Teaching American History covers all expenses & takes participants to historic sites such as Fraunces Tavern.  Journal & Courier

SPORTS NEWS

  • Purdue Baseball lost 11-4 to USC on Sunday at Dedeaux Field, marking its first series sweep of the season. Purdue managed only 13 hits while USC powered ahead with a late three-run homer that sealed the win.  WLFI
  • Frontier's softball team is showing renewed competitive spirit as freshman pitcher Sarah Trapp and sophomore Addi Govert led the team in a game played this morning. Coach John Hudelson said the team is building its morale — aiming to reach sectionals soon.  Journal & Courier
  • Purdue's basketball team will change for the 2026-27 season after losing three top scorers, forcing returnees + top recruits to step up. Analysts rank the team between 10th and 16th as coach Matt Painter plans to build on last season's success.  Journal & Courier
  • Ivy Tech and the Journal and Courier invite fans to vote for Athlete of the Week nominees from sports contests held from April 20 to 25 at local schools including Harrison and West Lafayette. Voting remains open until Thursday at noon (fans may submit unlimited votes).  Journal & Courier
  • Lafayette Jeff guard Alonzo Clawson-Smith shined at IU-Kokomo with nearly 20 points per game (earning first-team NABC All-Region honors) and will join SEMO to pursue his dream of playing in March Madness.  Journal & Courier
