  • The Lafayette Farmers Market returns downtown on May 2 for its 187th season, running every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. until October, with a record 120 vendors+ including 33 new sellers; free parking is available at the Columbia Street Parking Garage.  Star City News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Due to weather concerns, the Downtown Lafayette Live! concert featuring Michael Kelsey and Friends at Riehle Plaza has been postponed to Saturday (6 to 8 p.m.).  Star City News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A Rossville teacher, Kyle Etherington, will attend a national seminar on the American Revolution in New York City this summer. The multi-day program runs July 31 through August 2 & includes immersive visits to key historical sites.  WLFI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • INDOT is urging drivers to slow down, buckle up, and put away distractions near construction zones as National Work Zone Awareness Week begins. INDOT West Central says easing traffic in work zones can help protect workers and save lives.  Star City News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Seven Rashad, a four-star receiver/tight end from Buford, Georgia, decommitted from Purdue football’s only Class of 2028 commitment on Thursday and reopened his recruitment on social media. He originally committed on Aug. 1 and Purdue now has three commitments in the Class of 2027.  Journal & Courier
  • Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza was picked No. 1 overall by the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday night in Pittsburgh. His selection ended IU’s 22-year drought for first-round picks and made him the only modern-era No. 1, a historic moment for Indiana football.  Journal & Courier
