CRIME NEWS

  • On April 11, Herman Gray — a 39-year-old from Terre Haute — drove a hearse the wrong way on Sagamore Parkway in Lafayette, sparking a police chase into West Lafayette that ended near Sachem Boulevard and Sachem Court when officers arrested him.  Star City News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sgt. John Robinson of the Lafayette Fire Department died on duty April 14 at Fire Station 9 after being found unresponsive. The 53-year-old with nearly 30 years of service is remembered by his family—wife Melissa and daughters Ava and Reece—as the department works with official agencies to provide full honors.  Star City News

HEALTH NEWS

  • USDA issued a public health alert for frozen soup and bowl products by Campbell's, Molly's and other brands because cilantro in them may be contaminated with wood. Consumers are urged to discard or return any affected items; the products were sold in four states (Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio) and those with concerns can call the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline (888-674-6854).  Journal & Courier

  • Purdue football coach Barry Odom said his team will add two transfers while two players leave the roster—this change comes after over 30 players left the team last season as the spring transfer portal opens before practice.  Journal & Courier
  • Purdue University will host its 68th Grand Prix on April 26 — a go-kart race that shows student engineering skills and school spirit — and spectators can attend in person or stream the race online.  Star City News
